I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">As soon as I noticed this book I fell in love with the synopsis, I've always been fascinated by the Romanovs and this is the first retelling I've found. The perfect blend between historical fiction and fantasy.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Nadine Brandes is a fabulous storyteller, adding magic in an otherwise heartbreaking story. I was hooked from the very first chapter. The story follows Anastasia as she is confronted with difficult decisions while in exile, we are introduced to the Romanov family while they're kept as hostages by the Bolsheviks. Nastya needs to overcome the stress and monotony while trying to find a way to save her family.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">If you're looking for historical accuracy, this is not it. You'll find some historical facts mixed heavily with the author imaginative as she is trying to make you share the feelings of all the characters.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">After this magnificent introduction to Brandes prose I had to run and get one of her other books, Fawkes, I'm loving it so far, review to come.
2018 was a busy year for me, I struggled to read 50 books and not every book was amazing, but there's a few authors that I'm glad to have on my list today. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for their books:

The day the rains came was like any other, blistering air coating the canyon in a heavy stillness....
Just as the rains come after ten long, dry years, a young wizard, Wayland North, appears, to whisk Sydelle Mirabil away from her desert village. North needs an assistant, and Sydelle is eager to see the country - and to join him on his quest to stop the war that surely will destroy her home. But North has secrets - about himself, about why he chose Sydelle, about his real reasons for the journey. What does he want from her? And why does North's sworn enemy seem fascinated by Sydelle himself?
Through a journey that spans a country, magic and hard-won romance are woven together with precision and brilliant design by a first-time novelist.

I’ve had this book waiting on my bookshelf for years, and let me tell you something: don’t make the same mistake. If you have it waiting around, pick it up, if you don’t have it and you love Fantasy you need to get it. Loved reading every page, it made me laugh, it made me swoon and it made me wonder.

I’ve been on a reading slump for the past few months and it was easy to get lost in this story. Brightly Woven did not take long to get me interested, it’s unlike any other book related to Magic, witches and wizards, that I’ve come across in all the years I’ve been reading.

It’s been 10 years since it last rained on Sydelle Miribel’s village, her small town of Cliffton is all she’s ever known, that is until a young stranger arrives and her world turns upside down, they need to stop a war before it’s too late. There’s magic and there’s romance without the romance taking the main focus. I enjoyed getting to know Sydelle and her brave disposition and Wayland North with his humor and imperfect personality.

Overall It left me wishing there was a sequel, I want to go back to the amazing imaginary world that Alexandra Bracken was able to portray.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He's exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.
Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family's massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who'd been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he's never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe's so tempting he's willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office.
As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they're willing to lose in order to win each other.

Beautiful Bastard is one of those books that catch my attention because of all the hype and at the end left me feeling a little disappointed. I don’t have a lot to say about this one, when I read the blurb I saw potential for a great plot, but once I started reading I couldn’t find it, everything started great with Bennett being a beautiful but infuriating boss to Chloe who is your sexy and smart intern, the problem is that every chapter was full of pointless sex scenes.

I’ve recently started reading many genres like new adult and adult fiction; I enjoy the sex scenes as much as the romance and conflict, but I like to see a reason behind it all, we don’t get to read anything apart from those steamy scenes until the last part of the book.

The reason I’m giving this book two stars is because I was smiling from time to time, the bad part, is that I think those scenes weren’t supposed to made me laugh, I also enjoyed the last chapter because the story was less focused on the sex and more on the relationship.

Overall if you want to read a book that is focused in the sexual scenes, this is the book for you.

…until Jason, her best-friend-since-kindergarten, shows up to take her out for the day.
Like old times: the two of them on a wacky adventure, playing hooky from real life. With his lopsided grin and tickets to a circus full of misfits and monsters, he introduces her to a whole new world—one full of magic and mystery—and turns her reality upside down.
Except nothing goes as planned, and they end up running through the city to find a missing siren before someone brews a love potion with her blood.
Sirens and love potions, witches and elves, and Valentine kisses. Nothing will be the same for Emma again

Playing Hooky is a short but very entertaining novella, We are introduced to Emma on her 21st birthday, everything starts like an ordinary day, I mean, as ordinary as any of Emma’s birthdays anyway, suddenly her best friend from childhood, Jason, appears in the story and her day is full of unexpected adventures.

When I started reading I was immediately caught in the world that Rita created, a world full of magic, unicorns, sirens and many other interesting characters. The only problem I had with the book was that it was too short. I wanted to know more about Jason. I fell in love with the story; Emma and Jason had an amazing chemistry and made me smile throughout the book.

I don’t want to give much of the book away since is so short but if you like paranormal and fantasy this is a world you don’t want to skip. We are presented with mystery, fun and witty romance with a healthy dose of paranormal.

The author creates a world of magic unlike anything I had found recently. I enjoyed the alternating POV’s between Emma and Jason as much as the banter they had going on. Overall this was a quick and awesome story.

I received this book from Rita Webb. All opinions are honest and my own.

This is a story of a little girl named Candace Courtney Wellesley Wellington but everyone called her Candy, Her father Mister Wellington is a very busy dad, he wishes he could spend more time with his daughter and one day he decided to buy her a Cankersaurus Rex. Candy immediately starts training her dinosaur.

I don’t usually review children books but since I’m open to any genre when the Author asked if I was willing to make a review for this book I immediately accepted. You see, I have a 3-year-old boy that is crazy about dinosaurs and since it’s a book directed to children I decided to make this review with him. When we started reading this book my son was fascinated by the illustrations and as we read along I could see how much he was enjoying the adventures of Candy and Cank he was paying attention to the book till the end and appeared very entertained with the story.

I was pleased to see that this book addresses friendship and responsibility in a very understandable way for the kids, it also teaches parents to try and spend more time with their little ones. Overall a cute and quick read for the children.

Hysteria is a book that kept my attention throughout the story. We are introduced to Mallory as she is being accused of a murder, her boyfriend’s murder. I was excited to read this book since Fracture; Miranda’s first novel was one of my favorite books of 2012 with her ability to pull you inside a story I had high expectations about this thriller.

We get flashes of the past and the present as Mallory struggles to remember the night that changed it all. Her parents send her away to a boarding school since everybody in town is talking about the situation. But even if she is in another place she still feels Brian’s presence and has terrible nightmares involving what really happened or is it?.

Not everything is as great once she is in Monroe Academy there is more challenges for her to comfront including another murder and some mean situations. I have to warn you it gets a little gory at times but that’s just what makes the story feel more real.

After all of the traumatic events Mallory is left broken and Reid the new love interest is the one to help her, he is charming and it’s at her side in spite of everything. Her best friend Colleen was a nice character but nothing too special.

This book kept my attention and I couldn’t put it down, even if Mallory was just plain strange at times I ended up feeling for her. I liked the complications that where scattered through the story.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. The only thing that kept me from giving a higher rating was the ending, it just fell a little flat for me, but if you like suspense, Miranda’s books are great in their own way and I’ll keep reading her work in the future.

Rose Zarelli, self-proclaimed word geek and angry girl, has some confessions to make
1. I'm livid all the time. Why? My dad died. My mom barely talks. My brother abandoned us. I think I'm allowed to be irate, don't you?
2. I make people furious regularly. Want an example? I kissed Jamie Forta, a badass guy who might be dating a cheerleader. She is now enraged and out for blood. Mine.
3. High school might as well be Mars. My best friend has been replaced by an alien, and I see red all the time. (Mars is red and "seeing red" means being angry—get it?)
Here are some other vocab words that describe my life: Inadequate. Insufferable. Intolerable.
(Don't know what they mean? Look them up yourself.)
(Sorry. That was rude.)

Confessions of an Angry Girl is a fun contemporary novel. In this book we are introduced to Rose Zarelli a fourteen year old girl with anger issues, her life is far from perfect and her whole world is crumbling at her feet, everything in her life is changing and not for good, her father died in Iraq, her mother isn’t emotionally available and her brother, the only person that makes her days a little bit easier, leaves for college. Rose is confronted with a reality she didn’t expected at such a young age.

Tracy, Rose’s best friend, got on my nerves a lot of times. The only thing in her head was how to lose her virginity and how to be accepted into the cheerleader squad even if she had to become another person. It was difficult to read about her struggles but at the same time made me realize that many teenagers go through this kind of pressure and not all of them are so confident to be who they really are without caring if they are accepted or not.

The love interest, Jamie, is an older guy and also the bad boy, everybody in high school respect him because of his tough guy attitude, there is a nice chemistry between them, the only problem is that he’s dating a cheerleader. Regina, the cheerleader, is the popular girl at school and her only purpose in life is to irritate Rose.

Overall I really enjoyed this book, the only reason I didn’t gave it 5 stars was because there wasn’t that much anger throughout the book, actually, I only found one chapter in the whole book that really portrait the angry girl I expected. I’m looking forward to read the next book in the series.

Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion...she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit--more sparkly, more fun, more wild--the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.

When Cricket--a gifted inventor--steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

When I picked this book I was in the mood for a feel good romantic story. Stephanie Perkins knows how to write a fun heart-warming contemporary novel. This is the companion book for Anna and the French Kiss.

Lola Nolan is a quirky fashion crazy girl, her outfits were always over the top, with wigs and all. I liked that we get to see how she finds the balance to all the craziness in her life, I loved that her parents, Andy and Nathan were involved throughout the book and not just in the background, they were present and made the difference in many situations.

Lola has a happy life, a rocker boyfriend (Max) and a great best friend (Lindsey), but all of a sudden the boy next door returns and all the memories from their childhood hit full force, every now and then she remembered him but now he is in her life again and Lola has to confront their past.

Cricket is a great character he is sweet, nerdy and kind. He has his own family issues and I wished we had more time to know his twin sister Calliope. The relationship between Lola and Cricket is full of small and charming moments, everything about them was so eccentric but it worked for the story.

I was expecting to read this novel and be like “ok I enjoyed it” but at the end I loved it, all in all was a refreshing story with some characters out of the ordinary some cliché but was just what I needed.

There are several things I loved about this book: The setting, the childhood memories, the romance, the awkward situations Lola constantly manage to get into, get to read a little about Anna and Etienne relationship. Overall I recommend this book to people who enjoyed Anna and the French Kiss or is looking for a light and fun dose of romance.

Ella fears everything she worked so hard to bury might resurface, especially with Micha living right next door.

When Ella ran away from home she left everything and everyone behind, including her best friend Micha. For 8 months nobody knew where she was or if she was ever coming back, she decides to return home for the summer and is confronted with her past.

Due to a tragic event her life is turned upside down, we follow their journey as Ella struggles to be in control of the new person she created. The romance between Ella and Micha was sweet and steamy. I loved how Micha kept trying to bring his best friend back, one of my favourite situations in the book is that there was no insta-love, they've known each other forever and the feelings between them grew at normal speed.

The story is told from dual POV's. I liked Micha's POV, it portrayed his strong personality and with their difficult backgrounds made me realise that even if they talk more about love what makes this story enjoyable is the friendship that developed between all of them. The secondary characters Lila and Ethan were charming in their own way and I'm actually looking forward to know more about Lila's story.

The Secret of Ella and Micha is the first book I've read by Jessica Sorensen It held my interest enough to finish but there was no big reveal and that's the main reason I didn't gave this book more stars I expected more conflict. Overall I enjoyed the interaction between the main characters.
Eighteen year old Harper has grown up under her career Marine of a father's thumb.

She finds her self being torn in two as she quickly falls in love with her boyfriend Brandon, and her roommate's brother Chase.

I don't know where to begin. Taking Chances by Molly McAdams is an emotional ride and I was left with mixed feelings, my emotions where all over the place and since I don't want to give anything away I will make this review short and sweet.

We are introduced to Harper who is on her way to college far away from her strict Marine father, she is portrayed as pure innocence, at her 18 years, she has never been kissed and knows nothing of the world, her whole life she was surrounded by jarheads and everything changes as soon as her new roommate arrives.

Breanna the roommate becomes her first and only female friend, for the first time in her life she is attending parties where boys pay attention to her, dating etc. I could barely stand Harper and had a hard time believing the reasoning behind her acts.

Chase is Breanna's brother who is introduced to Harper early in the book and just like that she is head over heels with him but doesn't want to admit that she is attracted to him, mainly because he is a one night stand kind of guy. Brandon is a handsome underground fighter and the other love interest, I had to overlook some over the top situations in their relationship.

It's difficult to explain my feelings towards this book, at the end, it made me go through so many it made me happy, shocked, in love and angry, some parts were just unrealistic but not enough to make me stop reading. The character that hold my heart was Chase, he transforms so much during the journey that I couldn't help but to fall for him. While reading I had the feeling the story could have been spread into 2 books and I'm glad that wasn't the case.

Things move fast in this book I thought the love interest was rushed in both cases since we are talking about a love triangle.Overall I enjoyed this contemporary novel.

In this book we are introduced to Emma (Emily) Thomas, her life seems perfectly normal from the outside, she is a straight A student at Weslyn High, editor for the school newspaper, soccer and basketball player but what happens when she arrives home is something she is not willing to admit, not even to herself.

Her aunt Carol hates her just because but she stays strong throughout the book. There are some intense scenes that will have your heart pounding.

Emma is going through more struggles than the physical and emotional abuse, she is also making choices for the first time trying to find meaning to her life. I didn't agree with her decisions and at times was hoping for Emma to raise her voice.

Sara is her one and only true friend sometimes was a little cliché but she gave the book the spice you need to be able to breathe at times. Evan Mathews the love interest is totally swoon worthy, and I enjoyed the tension between them.

I found myself frustrated with some situations in the book, it was difficult to conceive the reasons behind them, as I kept reading it was easier to try and understand the mindset, sometimes it's difficult to see a way out when you are so deep into your troubles but yes, from an outsider point of view you want to scream at them.

Rebecca Donovan made a wonderful job portraying all the conflict on Emma's feelings, creating and emotional roller coaster. I kept putting this book aside for months and I'm really glad that I finally had the chance to read it. Make sure you have Barely breathing ( The breathing series #2) because it ends with a mayor cliffhanger. I can't go deep into the story but overall I loved this book.

Sophia's family has skeletons, but they aren't in their graves... At 22, practicing Wiccan Sophia Parsons is scratching out a living waiting tables in her Rocky Mountain hometown. Sophia can imagine lots of ways her life could be better, but she'd settle for just getting rid of the buzzing noise in her head. The spell she casts goes wrong. The static turns into voices. A man named Charles, a centuries-old shape-shifter that Sophia falls for despite her better judgment. He has connections that can help her unveil the mystery surrounding her ancestor's hanging, but she gets more than she bargains for when she finally decides to trust him. Survival in his world, she learns, means not asking questions and staying out of the immortal council's way. It's a line she crossed long ago. If Sophia wants to survive the council and save the people she loves, she must accept who she is, perform dark magic, and fight to the death for her freedom.

Where do I begin? without giving away too much. In this book we are introduced to Sophia Parsons, who is a practicing Wiccan, the mystery of her story revolves around whispering voices that don’t make sense, but that is definitely not the only problem in her life, she has to deal with a bi-polar mother that disapproves her beliefs and a nosy neighbor.

I enjoyed the twists and the way many characters developed. The romance was well done I liked the sense of humor that made me feel more attached to the couple. I have to admit at times it was a little predictable but it was quickly fixed by the twists on the story.

As the voices become louder Sophia starts looking for answers and Charles may be the one able to give them, but is she ready for the truth? This book is full of action, with a dash of romance.

In this book you are in for a treat if you like paranormal. There are shape-shifters, witches, vampires and spirits. The most important thing is that, no, it’s not another one of those books. It’s not your typical paranormal story, it’s full of mythology and great world building.

I received this book from the author and I’m so glad I got to read it, definitely worth it. This book grabbed my attention right from the first chapter until the last page and took me to places I hadn’t read about before or at least not the way Rebecca Hamilton portrays them. I can’t wait for the next installment in the series.

Every summer, hidden away in a lakeside community in upstate New York, four teens leave behind their old identities…and escape from their everyday lives.
Yet back in Philadelphia during the school year, Alex cannot suppress his anger at his father (who killed himself), his mother (whom he blames for it), and the girls who give it up too easily. His younger brother, Kyle, is angry too—at his abusive brother, and at their mother who doesn’t seem to care. Meanwhile, in suburban New Jersey, Katie plays the role of Miss Perfect while trying to forget the nightmare that changed her life. But Julie, her younger sister, sees Katie only as everything she’s not. And their mother will never let Julie forget it.
Up at the lake, they can be anything, anyone. Free. But then Katie’s secret gets out, forcing each of them to face reality—before it tears them to pieces.

Pieces of Us by Margie Gelbwasser is a novel that broke my heart, I'm not normally lost for words, but this book left me overwhelmed. I do not like how this book made me feel but that doesn't mean this book didn't accomplish it's goal. This book talks about how life is for many people and we, who don't have those kind of issues, sometimes don't understand.

This novel will make you feel uncomfortable and when you think you've reach a point where it's just too much, think again. There are situations in life that are disturbing and this book will present them as raw as possible, the story is told from four P.O.V Alex, Kyle, Katie and Julie all of them broken and abused in one way or another, somehow the only thing they desire is to spend the summer at the lake house, it's the only place they can be who they really want to be away from all the pressure.

Katie and Julie are sisters, both have a bad relationship with their mother for different reasons, one of them because her mother ignores her and the other because she can't live up to her expectations without loosing herself in the process. Alex and Kyle are brothers, trapped in a tragic event with a mother that does not give a good example for any of them, the four teenagers feel trapped and confused in a sea of problems.

The writing style had me a little confused and made it hard to switch between characters, the ending left me upset, I just want to state that love doesn't hurt, not emotionally or physically and if you read this book and feel like you identify with any character please tell someone what's going on.

Overall an emotional read. I think this book is not suitable for teens under 17 years old. If parents allow teenagers to read this book I would advice parental guidance. There is a lot of sex, abuse, drinking and cursing.
